IRIS IN A NUTSHELL

Hello there, I'm Iris Blackwood; a US based fiber artists and fashion designer collaborating between the realms of knitwear and art.

I was born and raised in the innovative city of Austin, Texas until the day I moved away to obtain a degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. I am currently a full time Junior student with a 4.0 GPA and am beyond passionate about exploring the beautiful collide where fibers and fashion intertwine. My infatuation with unfamiliar materials and unique forms of application are only the surface of what I hope to achieve through fiber study and collaborative design processes.

Three words to describe me are unconventionally creative, quirky, and overly well-organized - some of my friends and past professors have concluded that I might be slightly OCD, but I consider this characteristic to be a major advantage throughout work performance, efficient design planning, and detail-oriented execution, that set me apart from those around me. Most importantly, this quality has fostered my love for creative presentation techniques, patience while working with my hands, and meticulous care through every step of the design process.

Anyone who knows me can vouch for her dedication and reliability. I am always eager to learn from those around me and am besotted with curiosity of the unknown. I excel in creative experimentation and innovation when it comes to designing - whether it be boundless creativity or one that challenges me with specific constraints. Most importantly, I craves collaboration with artists of many mediums and finds that there are infinite possibilities when artists of various concentrations come together. This is truly where the curiosities of my soul wonder infinitely.

Keep in touch!
